Environment

Sustainability is one of the core values of the James Latham Group.

We are committed to ethical practices in timber production, management and distribution

Sustainability is one of the core values of the James Latham Group.

It is considered that with best practices observed, timber and wood products are the ultimate sustainable and recyclable materials, requiring low energy consumption to process and are thermally efficient in use.

We are verified under established sustainable and responsible forest management certification schemes and committed to ethical practices in timber production, management and distribution. We were the first signatories of the Timber Trade Federation’s Responsible Purchasing Policy and support numerous environmental charities and associations both close to home and worldwide. Full details are available in our environmental and ethical policy here.

We are members of Timber Development UK (TDUK), the only organisation to cover the full supply chain, from sawmill to specifier.

TDUK was formed in 2021 from the merger of two of the largest and longest established organisations in the timber supply chain, the Timber Trade Federation (TTF) and Timber Research and Development Association (TRADA). As an organisation, TDUK seeks to connect the supply chain, lead best practice, and accelerate a low-carbon future; empowering timber design, and acting as an agent of change towards more sustainable, low carbon forms of construction.

We adhere to the high business and environmental standards contained in their Code of Conduct. Membership of Timber Development UK can be verified at www.timberdevelopment.uk
