While ‘softwood’ may sound inferior to ‘hardwood’ some Softwood timbers can be just as structurally strong as hardwoods. The difference is that the surface of softwoods is, indeed, softer, which makes them easier to work with in joinery projects whilst still supplying the same strength and durability as hardwood.
